The SLE is designed to assess your cognitive abilities through a series of multiple-choice questions that test your logic, math and reasoning skills. It’s similar to a miniature IQ test.
Like the other tests used by universities, the Wonderlic is a timed exam. But it is significantly shorter and more fast-paced than the SAT or ACT.
You’ll only have seconds to answer each question, so you need to be prepared both for the test content and ideal test-taking strategy in order to handle the pressure.
The Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE) is the standard version of the test. You’ll take it either on a computer or with a paper and pencil but always in-person with a supervisor administering the exam.
The standard SLE is made up of 50 questions and you’ll be given 12 minutes to respond to all of them (that’s less than 15 seconds per question!).
The average score is around 20 out of 50 (40%) and over 95% of students don’t even respond to all 50 questions. You’re going to need test-taking strategy if you want to answer all the questions and have your best chance at a high score!
The SLE Quicktest is a new version of the exam. You’ll take the Quicktest version of the Scholastic Level Exam remotely, from a computer of your choice. There is no administrator but it is timed, so once you click to start the exam, there is no going back!
You might think that by taking the test at home you can “cheat” on some questions and get a better score…
The problem is that you only have 16 seconds to answer each question (30 questions in just 8 minutes).
So there’s no time to look up answers or vocabulary words online.
You need to be prepared in advance, know the types of questions to expect and have a strong test-taking strategy to beat the clock and give yourself the best chance at getting into the program you want!
